An Air India flight operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on Tuesday caught fire shortly after it landed and parked at the gate. Air India emphasised that while the aircraft suffered minor damage, the passengers and crew members are safe. It further informed that the incident occurred while the passengers had begun disembarking.

"Flight AI 315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 22 July 2025, experienced an auxiliary power unit (APU) fire shortly after it had landed and parked at the gate. The incident occurred while passengers had begun disembarking, and the APU was automatically shut down as per system design," ANI reported, citing Air India spokesperson.

"There was some damage to the aircraft; however, passengers and crew members disembarked normally and are safe. The aircraft has been grounded for further investigations and the regulator has been duly notified: Air India Spokesperson," the post added.

Earlier on July 21, a Kolkata-bound Air India flight aborted its takeoff at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Monday evening after it suffered a technical snag.

The flight, AI2403, was on the runway with 160 passengers on board when the issue was detected. Reacting to the flight abortion, the Air India spokesperson said, "Flight AI2403 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on 21 July 2025 has been rescheduled to depart later this evening, necessitated by a technical issue detected during the take-off roll".

After the flight was aborted, the passengers were disembarked and the flight was rescheduled. The airline said that the staff on the ground was extending all support to the passengers.
