Air India's New Senior Citizen Discount: If you're 60 or older and planning a trip soon, Air India has just made flying a lot more wallet-friendly for you. The airline has introduced special senior citizen discounts not only on domestic routes but also for international flights, making it more affordable for older passengers to travel comfortably. With reduced fares, extra baggage allowance, and bonus savings for UPI users, there’s a lot to benefit from both in India and abroad.
Air India's New Senior Citizen Discount On Domestic Flights
Seniors flying within India can avail up to 25 per cent off on base fares. Just select the 'Senior Citizen' option under concession types while booking on any domestic route in Air India’s network.
As with international travel, UPI users can get additional savings. Apply the same promo code – UPIPROMO to receive a minimum of Rs 200 off per passenger.

Air India's New Senior Citizen Discount On International Flights
Air India is giving senior citizens up to 10 per cent off on base fares across all cabin classes for international travel. In addition to the discounted fare, you’ll also get:
- One free date change (though fare difference, if any, still applies)
- Extra baggage allowance: Either 10 kg more or one extra checked-in bag
There’s an additional perk if you choose to pay via UPI:
Use the promo code UPIPROMO during checkout and get up to Rs 2000 off per passenger when booking through the Air India app or website.
Breakdown of Extra Baggage (By Cabin Class):
-> Economy: 10 kg extra (up to 40 kg max)
-> Premium Economy: 10 kg extra (up to 45 kg max)
-> Business Class: 10 kg extra (up to 50 kg max)
Under the piece concept, passengers in Economy and Premium Economy can carry 2 pieces of 23 kg each, while Business Class travelers can carry 2 pieces of 32 kg each.

1. For Domestic Flights:
-> Baggage allowance: 15 kg
-> Date change: Free if made more than 3 days before departure. After that:
- Rs 1500 (if changed more than 3 days before departure)
- Rs 3000 (if changed within 3 days of departure)
2. Cancellation fee:
-> Rs 2000 (more than 3 days before)
-> Rs 3500 (within 3 days)
3. No-show penalty:
-> Rs 5000 fee
-> No refund allowed for no-shows

-> Airport counters

If you're booking offline, make sure to carry a valid government-issued photo ID that shows your date of birth. According to Air India, they’ll strictly verify IDs at every stage: during booking, at check-in, and again during boarding.
Note: If you're unable to prove your age eligibility, you may be denied boarding and fined twice the ticket fare plus taxes. Spot checks could also be carried out by airport managers.
