Tata-Owned Airline, Air India is likely to get a new identity with a new logo and brand colours in much awaited revamp of the airline. Reportedly, the name 'Air India' will remain intact for the brand.
The current logo of Air India, in use since 2014, shows a red swan with the orange Konark Chakra image on it. It is also displayed on the tail of Air India’s aircraft. In a statement, the airline on Monday said that a new era of transformation will be revealed at an event on August 10.
Reportedly, the airline will get a new livery that will feature red, white and purple. While red and white are Air India's colours, purple will be derived from the livery of Vistara.
Earlier, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran had informed about the complete revamp of Air India.
“The transformation is happening in human resources. We have completely revamped the technology. We are revamping engineering and ground handling. The entire fleet will get changed. We have made one of the biggest [aircraft] orders. And that’s a very bold bet,” said Chandrasekaran at the BT Mindrush & BT Best CEOs Awards event in Mumbai.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson stated that Air India will unveil a whole range of new services, such as a new color scheme, cabin interiors, crew uniforms, and insignia as part of a rebranding process.
Here's What Can Be Expected From Air India Revamp:
According to media reports, the airline hired London-based brand and design consultancy firm FutureBrand to redraw Air India's branding strategy. The brand has worked on branding American Airlines and British luxury automobile brand Bentley as well as the 2012 London Olympics.
The airline mascot -- The Maharajah -- was also listed in the rebranding plans. However, it was reported that a female mascot might get added to the lineup.
The airline mentioned that a third of its wide-body fleet will have modern, plush seats and hi-tech inflight entertainment systems by March 2024.
"By the end of this financial year, the six new A350s, together with the 5 leased B772LRs and 9 other B773ERS we're also inducting, will mean that our wide-body fleet will have grown in size by 30 per cent within a year," Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson said in his weekly message to the staff.
Apart from this, Air India Express and Air Asia India will also be merged to create a single low-cost carrier airline. Vistara will be merged with Air India by March 2024.
