An Air India flight from Delhi to Washington, DC, was stopped in Austria's Vienna after an extended maintenance task was identified during routine aircraft checks. Flight AI103 was forced to stop from covering the remaining distance due to the maintenance works. The airlines, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stated that all the passengers were disembarked in Vienna. Apart from this, the disruption also led to the cancellation of the flight from Washington, DC, to Delhi via Vienna.

"Flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, DC, on 2nd July made a planned fuel stop in Vienna. During routine aircraft checks, an extended maintenance task was identified, which required rectification before the next flight and, thus, additional time for completion. Due to this, the Vienna to Washington, DC leg was cancelled, and passengers were disembarked," Air India stated in a post on X.

The post further stated that the flight from Washington, DC, to Delhi also got cancelled due to the disruption. It further ensured that the passengers were offered refunds or alternative flights based on their preferences. "Consequently, flight AI104 from Washington, DC, to Delhi via Vienna was also cancelled, and the affected passengers have been rebooked on alternative flights to Delhi or offered full refunds based on their preferences," the post added.

The update came amid several reports of disruptions in flight operations in the past few months. In separate news, a flight from Goa to Pune witnessed chaos mid-way after one of the window frames was found loose. The passengers stated that they were left shocked after witnessing that the window frame was not fitted properly.

“A woman with a baby was seated behind me. The window near her suddenly popped out. Though the protective outer pane was intact, it was still very alarming. The woman was clearly frightened,” one of the passengers was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
