Bengaluru-bound Akasa Air flight on Wednesday received a bomb threat, following which the flight was diverted to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport where it will make an emergency landing. According to an Akasa Airlines spokesperson, flight QP1335, carrying 174 passengers, three infants and seven crew members, received a security alert mid-air after the pilot was directed to divert the flight to the Delhi airport.
The flight landed safely at Delhi Airport, said Delhi Police. The aircraft has been positioned at an isolation bay, and all necessary procedures are being followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew, the officials said.

Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight also received a similar threat and was redirected to Ahmedabad airport. IndiGo's Mumbai-Delhi flight 6E 651, however, landed safely at the Ahmedabad airport and all passengers were safely evacuated. Search and sanitisation of the aircraft is underway.

The IndiGo flight was isolated and all the passengers were safely evacuated. After a thorough checking, nothing suspicious was found and the the flight took-off for Delhi on Wednesday morning, said officials.
Soon after the flight took-off from Mumbai on Tuesday night, an unidentified person, through a tweet, claimed a bomb had been placed in the aircraft which was carrying nearly 200 passengers and crew, an official from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport said.
The pilots decided to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport after they received security alert by the Mumbai ATC. Ahmedabad was chosen for landing as it was the closest airport when the flight was en-route to Delhi.

"After landing here during midnight, the aircraft, carrying nearly 200 passengers and crew, was thoroughly checked by the security agencies overnight. However, nothing suspicious was found. The flight took-off for Delhi at around 8 am today after getting a green signal from the security personnel," the official said.
The fresh bomb threats came a day after at least seven flights of Indian careers were targeted by a bomb scare posted on social media platform X. The flights that received the threats included Air India Delhi-Chicago flight, Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight, Ayodhya-Bengaluru Air India Express, a SpiceJet flight from Darbhanga to Mumbai (SG116), an Akasa Air flight from Bagdogra to Bengaluru (QP 1373) an Alliance Air Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi flight (9I 650) and an Air India Express flight (IX 684) from Madurai to Singapore.
Centre To Double Deployment Of Air Marshals As Bomb Threats On Flight Sees Hike
Amid the ongoing increase in bomb threats on flight, the government has decided to double the number of sky marshals on flights originating from airports across the country.
A senior official from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that the decision to double the number of Air marshals has been taken recently after assessment of the growing threat and getting inputs from intelligence agencies.
"The fresh batch of Air Narshals will be deployed on new international routes added in sensitive category based on intelligence report. The decision was taken after several rounds of meetings will all stakeholders in aviation security," the officer added.
