Prateek Yadav, Son Of Mulayam Singh Yadav And Half-Brother Of Akhilesh, Dies At 38

Prateek Yadav, the son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, died at the age of 38. Yadav was rushed to Lucknow Civil Hospital by family members at approximately 6:15 AM on Wednesday, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Yadav was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhna. He was the husband of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Aparna Yadav and stepbrother of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

According to a report by NDTV, a panel of doctors at King George's Medical University and Hospital will soon perform a post-mortem examination of the body to ascertain the cause of death.

Who Was Prateek Yadav?

Holding an MBA from the University of Leeds in the UK, Prateek Yadav was a well-known real estate developer and fitness enthusiast. Yadav had opened Lucknow's first gym in 2016.

His commitment to bodybuilding gained international recognition in 2015 when he featured on an internationally-acclaimed bodybuilding website as 'the international transformation of the month'. He credited the transformation to a motivational talk from his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, over a decade ago.

Yadav was well-known for his passion for animal welfare, actively supporting various initiatives for the care and protection of animals.

His lifestyle, however, sparked controversy in 2017 following his purchase of a Rs 5 crore Lamborghini, with critics questioning how a member of a family claiming to be committed to socialism could buy one of the world's most expensive vehicles.

"I bought the car on loan. I have all the papers, I pay income tax. Why the controversy?" news agency ANI quoted Yadav as saying.

Away From Politics

Unlike many members of the Yadav family, Prateek remained away from politics, never contesting an election or holding any official political position.

However, in November 2012, a group of Samajwadi Party workers entered the SP office and demanded a ticket for Prateek from Azamgarh for the 2014 general election. While both his mother, Sadhna and uncle Shivpal Yadav supported this, the move never materialised.
