Aligarh: The Vande Bharat Express, heading to Ayodhya, experienced an engine failure near ITI, Aligarh, on Sunday morning, causing significant disruption on the Kanpur-bound railway line. The incident led to the halting of six trains, including the Shatabdi Express, for over two hours before the issue was resolved and the train resumed its journey.

The Vande Bharat Express, which departs from Anand Vihar Terminal and is scheduled to arrive in Aligarh at 7:30 AM, was running 20 minutes late. Around 7:45 AM, the engine malfunctioned near ITI in Aligarh. The train's pilot applied emergency brakes to bring it to a stop.

Technical Fault Causes Traffic Delays

A technical team from Aligarh's Carriage and Wagon Department was promptly dispatched to address the issue. It took the team approximately 90 minutes to fix the engine's partial technical fault. Meanwhile, several trains, including the Shatabdi Express, Neelanchal Express, Muri Express, and Seemanchal Express, were temporarily halted.

The affected Vande Bharat Express was later moved to Platform No. 2 at Aligarh Station for further inspection. The team, led by technical in-charge R.B. Singh and technician Anil Kumar, repaired the reverser issue in the engine. After a thorough check, the train departed for Kanpur at 10:00 AM. The incident caused a delay of nearly two hours, with station officials and security personnel overseeing the situation.
