The devotees of Lord Shiva are geared up for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, and arrangements for the annual yatra to the holy cave shrine of Baba Barfani are being made. The Yatra will be conducted over a span of 57 days from July 3 to August 28 (Rakshabandhan). Lakhs of pilgrims, including thousands of pilgrims from Ludhiana, have already registered for the pilgrimage.
For the pilgrimage, devotees have to trek between 14 and 43 kms on foot to reach the shrine. The participants below the age of 13 and above the age of 70 would not be allowed to participate in the yatra as per the rules and regulations framed by the administration for 2026.

Helicopter Services Suspended
The administration has made some major changes in the yatra arrangement. Earlier, along with pony, walking and palanquin, pilgrims were allowed to take helicopter service from Neelgrath to Panchtarni and from Pahalgam to Panchtarni.
This year, in the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, the helicopter service has been suspended by the administration. The entire region for the pilgrimage has been made a no-fly zone in view of security arrangements.
Alternate Travel Arrangements
In view of suspending air travel service to the Yatra, only on foot, palanquin or pony services would be allowed to carry pilgrims to the shrine. The administration has also instructed the pilgrims to carry their valid Yatra permit while travelling throughout the yatra and must follow the rules and regulations given by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
Pilgrims are also instructed not to litter and not to spoil the sanitation throughout the path of Yatra. Administration has requested all devotees to take the sacred journey in a systematic way so that there should not be any problem at any step of the journey.
