Andhra Camphor Factory Mishap: Six workers were hospitalised after they purportedly inhaled toxic fumes at a factory in Andhra Pradesh's Ananthapuram district, according to the police. The workers' condition was said to the stable.
The incident took place at a camphor manufacturing facility in Kothapalli, Garladinne Mandal. Initially, only two workers fell unconcious, the police said, adding that four others also lost conciousness when they reached to help out the duo.
"Some workers were welding a radiator when they were exposed to toxic odours from chemicals, causing them to fall unconscious. Four other workers who tried to assist were also affected and required treatment," said Anantapur Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Venkateshwarlu.
He said the unconcious workers were immediately rushed to a hospital. "The factory management immediately rushed all six workers to KIMS Savera Hospital in Anantapur, where they are now undergoing treatment on ventilators," the official stated.
A thorough investigation into the incident will be conducted, the DySP added. Further details are awaited.
