Andhra Bus Accident: 14 Charred To Death, Others Critical As Vehicle Catches Fire After Collision With Lorry

Andhra Pradesh Bus Accident: In a tragic incident, at least 14 people were charred to death after a private bus collided with a tipper lorry in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district, leading to massive fire. The officials stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, leading to panic among the locals. The bus caught fire immediately after the collision, giving a very little time for the passengers to react.

"Eight people died in a road accident that took place near Rayavaram in Prakasam district. A private travel bus collided with a tipper lorry near the slab quarries. Following the collision, the bus caught fire and was completely gutted," Markapuram DSP Dr U Nagaraju was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.

The officials informed that around 20 injured passengers have been shifted to the local hospitals for treatment, adding that many are out of the danger. While reacting to the incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his grief, further asking the authorities to take necessary action into the matter.

The chief minister has asked the authorities to conduct a detailed inquiry into the causes of the accident and submit a report. The collision happened while the bus was travelling from Jagityala to Kaligiri, Markapuram DSP Harshavardhan Raju said.

The incident comes just a day after a major fire broke out near the Chief Secretary's bungalows at Rayapudi in Amaravati. According to police, the fire reportedly started in pipes stored by Megha Engineering Company, with firefighters and police personnel deploying three fire engines to control the blaze amid thick smoke and intense flames.

In a separate development, three people were killed as two cars collided on the national highway near Ernagudem in the East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday. According to a police official, five people were injured in the incident.
