At least six people were killed in a bus-truck collision in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district on Wednesday. The bus, carrying 42 passengers, was engulfed in fire after the collision which occurred in the Chilakaluripet mandal, due to which six people were charred to death while several others suffered burn injuries. 

Police said that injured individuals were rushed to Chilakaluripet government hospital where they received initial medical treatment before being transferred to Guntur for further medical care. The deceased were identified as Anji (35), Uppugundur Kashi (65), Uppugundur Lakshmi (55) and Mupparaju Khyati Saishri (8), all hailing from Bapatla district while efforts are underway to identify the remaining two victims.

The bus was en route to Hyderabad from Chinnaganjam, a Mandal in Bapatla district when it collided with lorry. The two vehicles were completely damaged in the accident, police said.

A police official from the Chilakaluripeta rural station confirmed that the casualties included the lorry driver, the bus driver and four others who died on the spot. Police are currently investigating the incident to ascertain the details of the incident.

In another incident, four people were killed while several others suffered injuries when a bus collided with a tractor in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near Udimudi village when the speeding Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus struck a tractor transporting labourers.

The deceased were identified as Nookapalli Siva (35), Vasamsetti Surya Prakash (50), Veeri Katlayya (45) and Chilakalapudi Panda (age unknown). Three victims died at the scene, while the fourth succumbed to injuries during transport to the hospital.

The injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at Kothapeta Government Hospital. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the collision.
