Andhra Pradesh Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather advisory for Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, predicting heavy rainfall and strong winds across several districts due to Cyclone Ditwah. The system, currently positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal, is expected to continue intensifying rainfall activity in the state over the next two days.

According to the IMD, the cyclone has weakened but had been moving almost northward over the past six hours, near the coasts of northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

"Cyclone Ditwah, currently located over the southwest Bay of Bengal, is expected to continue enhancing rainfall activity across multiple districts of Andhra Pradesh," the IMD said in a statement.

Over the next two days, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and squally winds of 35-45 km/h, gusting up to 55 km/h.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at a few locations in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh with extremely heavy rain possible at one or two places through the day. Isolated areas may see heavy rainfall on Monday, followed by light to moderate rain on Tuesday.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected across most areas in Rayalaseema on Monday, with heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places. Thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated spots, followed by light to moderate rain on Tuesday.

A yellow alert has been issued for December, 1 for districts including YSR Kadapa, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, Palnadu, and Tirupati, where conditions could warrant heightened vigilance due to expected severe weather.

The IMD also cautioned that the sea condition would remain rough, and fishermen along and off the South Andhra Pradesh coast have been advised not to venture into the sea until December 1.

In light of the cyclone's potential impacts, Distant Warning (DW) II has been hoisted at the ports of Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Krishnapatnam, and Nizampatnam.

Andhra Pradesh's Home Minister, V. Anita, conducted a review of the cyclone preparedness with the collectors of Nellore, Tirupati, Kadapa, Chittoor, and Annamayya districts from the Secretariat in Guntur district. She urged officials to remain on high alert for the next 48 hours and ensure continuous communication of warnings to vulnerable areas expected to experience severe rainfall and gusty winds.
