Andhra Pradesh Weather Update: Under the influence of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, parts of Andhra Pradesh are likely to receive thunderstorms and heavy rains till December 5, the Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

The Met Department, in its press release, said the well-marked low-pressure area is likely to intensify into a depression and a cyclonic storm subsequently which will bring thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh on Thursday and in Rayalaseema on Friday.

According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of south coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on Sunday.

On December 4, extremely heavy rainfall was likely in parts of south coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema and heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places.

Low Pressure Area Over South Andaman Sea

The low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and the nearby Southeast Bay of Bengal proceeded in a west-northwest direction and became clearly visible at 8:30 AM on Wednesday morning, according to the Met Department. On Thursday, this weather system is probably going to deepen into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal as it moves west and northwest.

It is also expected to move in a northwest direction and intensify into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal around December 2. the IMD said.

IMD Warns Of Cold Wave And Rainfall In Delhi-NCR

As winter tightens its grip on North India, including Delhi-NCR, the Met department is predicting even more frigid weather in the days ahead. People are advised to take caution as a considerable impact is predicted for the first week of December. Concurrently, there is a report of an active cyclonic circulation over the northwest region of Rajasthan and its environs.
