Andhra Pradesh News: A middle-aged couple from SBI colony in Nandyal district took their own lives after their son fell in love with a transgender woman. The deceased, identified as Subba Rayudu and his wife Saraswati, reportedly consumed pesticides to end their lives.

According to local police, their son Sunil, an autorickshaw driver who graduated in a B Tech, began a relationship with a transgender woman named Smitha approximately three years ago. The couple had expressed their disapproval of the relationship, warning Sunil on multiple occasions. Recently, they attempted to persuade him to marry a woman of their choosing.

Despite their efforts, Sunil remained steadfast in his love for Smitha and firmly expressed his intention to marry her. In an attempt to resolve the matter, his parents took him to the local police station for counselling. However, Sunil rejected his parents' proposal, leaving them humiliated.

According to a Times Of India report, the distressed couple chose to end their lives two days ago at a location on the outskirts of Nandyal. They were quickly taken to the government general hospital, but despite efforts to save them, both Subba Rayudu and Saraswati succumbed to their injuries on Wednesday.

Local authorities stated that no formal complaint has been filed and therefore, no case has been registered. However, relatives and neighbours alleged that a group of transgender individuals associated with Smitha had been harassing the couple over a loan taken by Sunil, contributing to their sense of humiliation and despair.
