Andhra Pradesh: In a disturbing act of public violence, a 25-year-old woman was tied to a tree and brutally beaten by a moneylender in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district after her husband failed to repay a loan taken three years ago. The incident occurred in Narayanapuram village, located in Kuppam mandal, and has sparked outrage across the state.
The victim, identified as Sirisha, had returned to the village to collect her children’s exam certificates when the accused, Munikannappa, spotted her. Reports say that her husband, Thimmarayappa, had borrowed Rs 80,000 from Munikannappa but was unable to repay it. Fearing consequences, the couple had left the village with their children but Sirisha returned briefly, unaware of what awaited her.
