One soldier was killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Besides, four Naxalites were also killed during the confrontation. Several weapons have been recovered from the site.
According to authorities, cited by Jagran.com, a Head Constable from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was martyred in the encounter. The clash, which began on Saturday evening, took place in the forest of South Abujhmad, located on the border between Narayanpur and Dantewada districts, when a joint team of security personnel launched an anti-Naxal operation.

They reported that after the gunfire ceased late Saturday night. Bodies of four Naxalites were found along with an AK-47 rifle and a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), along with other automatic weapons.
Prabhat Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanpur, stated that based on the information about the Naxals' presence in the South Abujhmad area, special teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bastar districts were sent on a mission on Friday.
The soldiers walked for several kilometres, crossing rivers and streams, to reach the jungle. Upon sighting the security forces, the Naxals opened fire, to which the soldiers retaliated. The encounter continued intermittently from Saturday evening.
An official mentioned that in this battle, DRG Head Constable Sannu Karm lost his life in the line of duty.

The encounter remains active, with DRG and STF teams from four districts participating, according to IG Bastar P. Sundarraj, as per News 18.
