The foundation stone for the new Rithala-Kundli metro corridor will be laid on Sunday, marking a significant development in Delhi Metro's expansion, Chief Minister Atishi said while highlighting the project will enhance the connectivity in Delhi NCR. The project aims to improve connectivity and alleviate transportation challenges between Delhi and Haryana.
The Rithala-Kundli metro corridor will feature 22 stations, including key stops such as Rohini Sector 25, Bawana Industrial Area, Narela, and Kundli. The line aims to strengthen inter-state connectivity and support regional economic growth.

Delhi CM Atishi highlighted the broader scope of regional integration, mentioning the inauguration of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. This ambitious initiative will link Delhi with Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, alongside the extension of the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park.
The Delhi government has contributed Rs 1,260 crore to the RRTS project, which is jointly funded by the Centre and the state governments of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. Atishi described the metro and RRTS initiatives as "milestones" in addressing transport challenges and promoting regional development.

Magenta Line Extension To Begin Operations
The extension of the Delhi Metro Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park will also be inaugurated on Sunday, with operations commencing the same day. This development is expected to improve accessibility in West Delhi, reducing travel time and enhancing commuter convenience.
In its Phase-4 expansion, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is constructing 86 kilometres of new lines across five corridors, including Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg and Majlis Park-Maujpur. Currently, the Delhi Metro spans 391 kilometres with 286 stations, operating a fleet of over 300 trains.
