After the two-day-long encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri concluded, resulting in the deaths of five security personnel, Indian Army dog Domino and his handler Lance Naik Lucky Kumar were awarded for their valuable role in the operation. Domino helped Indian troops in tracking down a Pakistani terrorist in his hideout.

The Army dog by sniffing the blood trail of terrorists in the Kalakote area tracked down their hideouts, helping security forces locate them and neutralise the threat.

Domino and Lucky Kumar were awarded on-the-spot Northern Army Commendation Card by Lt General Upendra Dwivedi.

The Rajouri encounter resulted in the killing of two terrorists and the sacrifice of five security officials. Those who died in line of duty include Captain M V Pranjal of Karnataka's Mangalore area, Captain Shubham Gupta of Uttar Pradesh's Agra, Havaldar Abdul Majid of Ajote in Jammu and Kahsmir's Poonch, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht of Uttarakhand's Halli Padli area and Paratrooper Sachin Laur of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh.

Earlier today, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi visited the Kalakote area in Rajouri to take stock of the situation. He was briefed about the successful operation in which security forces were able to neutralise two hardcore terrorists.

The encounter operation lasted for more than 36 hours and was conducted in very harsh weather conditions with visibility around 3 meters and the most difficult terrain, as said by Indian Army officials.

Army also informed that one of the terrorists neutralised, named Quari was a former soldier of the Pakistani army and a senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was a trained sniper. He was also the mastermind of the Kandi and Dangri attacks and was active in the Rajouri-Poonch area for the last year.
