E20 Fuel Row: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday was stopped by the Delhi Police during his march towards the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the E 20 controversy. The former Delhi chief minister, along with the other party supporters, was marching towards the prime minister's residence to meet him. While talking to the reporters, Kejriwal stated that the centre should not impose E20 on the country.

Wanted To Meet PM: Kejriwal

On being stopped by the state police, the AAP chief further urged PM Modi to call the protesters for a meeting over the issue. "I want to say that PM Modi should not come under pressure from US President Trump. He should stop buying ethanol from the USA and stop imposing E20 on our country. I hope that the Prime Minister will call us. We have sent a message to the Prime Minister saying that we want to meet him. The struggle will continue," Kejriwal said.

Apart from this, AAP State President Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that the party was marching with lakhs of petitions over the issue, further urging the prime minister to begin a dialogue. "We have spoken to the police officers about the fact that people have come here with lakhs of petitions... We want to give the petition to the Prime Minister and want him to hold a discussion on ethanol," Bhardwaj stated.

"There should be a dialogue...Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter. We have repeatedly told the Prime Minister in press conferences," the AAP leader added.

BJP Responds

While responding to the allegation, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh called the campaign "meaningless", further asserting that the step is in favour of the farmers. "It is an absurd, meaningless campaign of his; there is no logic, no information... Everything has been done in a scientific manner. His behavior is against India's farmers. Ethanol means protection for farmers," Chugh asserted. 

E20 Fuel Row: Kejriwal's Demands

Arvind Kejriwal has suggested the government to provide a pure petrol alternative to E-20 at all petrol pumps, to keep the price of E-20 petrol lower than pure petrol, and to bring the price of petrol below Rs 84 per liter.
