Arvind Kejriwal will relocate to bungalow number 5, Feroz Shah Road, which is currently allotted to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal. The AAP convenor has to vacate the Delhi CM house after his resignation from the top post last month. The Aam Aadmi Party has confirmed the move by adding that the MP himself offered the residence to Kejriwal, news agency ANI reported, citing party sources.

Kejriwal is expected to vacate the official CM residence on Friday, as the AAP convenor had expressed his desire to vacate the CM bungalow during the Navratri period.

Earlier, in a statement, the party said, "AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will soon leave CM residence, and search for his new house has been intensified. He is giving preference to living around New Delhi, from where he is an MLA, to remain connected with the people. Many MLAs, councillors, party workers, and common people are offering them their houses to the AAP Chief."

"Arvind Kejriwal is looking for a property that is dispute-free, and there is no problem in living there," the party added.

In September, in a press conference, AAP leader Raghav Chadha made a request to the Centre to provide a government residence to Kejriwal, citing his post as the convenor of the AAP, a national party. "Party chiefs of every national party have a residence of their own in the national capital. We expect that the central government will provide one for Kejriwal too," he added.

On September 17, Kejriwal tendered his resignation as the chief minister to Delhi LG VK Saxena, following his release from the Tihar jail in the excise policy case. The party unanimously chose Atishi to take over the office, making her only the third woman chief minister of the state after Sushma Swaraj of the BJP and Sheela Dixit of the Congress.

While announcing his resignation, in a speech to the party workers, Arvind Kejriwal claimed that he would go to the "people's court" and would seek justice there. He further claimed that he will accept the post of the Chief Minister only when the people of the state will give him the certificate of honesty by giving AAP a big mandate for the third consecutive term in the upcoming Delhi Assembly election.
