Asad Ahmed, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in Jhansi on Thursday.

Along with Asad, Ghulam, son of Maksudan, was also killed in the encounter, said the police. Both of them were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carried a reward of Rupees five lakhs each.

Atiq Ahmed:

He married Shaista Parveen in 1996 and had five sons, Ali, Umar Ahmad, Asad, Ahzaan, and Abaan. He has more than 100 cases against him over the last 43 years, however, the Umesh Pal murder case is the first time when he has been convicted. He was sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment in the abduction case of now-deceased Umesh Pal.

Ashraf Ahmed:

Ashraf Ahmed, brother of Atiq Ahmed, have also been acquitted in the 2006 Umesh Pal kidnapping case. Ashraf along with Atiq Ahmed was held guilty in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case by Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj MP-MLA Court, which also sentenced Atiq to rigorous life imprisonment in the abduction case of now-deceased Umesh Pal.

Shaista Parveen:

Along with Atiq Ahmed, and his brother Ashraf, his wife Shaista Parveen, has also been booked in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh police had announced to double the reward on jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed's wife, Shaista Parveen, who is on the run in the Umesh Pal murder case. The reward has been increased the reward amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.

Ali Ahmed:

Ali Ahmed was booked in a 2021 extortion case. His name has also appeared in the Umesh Pal murder case, who was a prime witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.

On March 3, the Allahabad High Court rejected the bail application of Atiq Ahmed's son Ali Ahmed and observed that enlarging "such a criminal" on bail would be a threat "not only to the witnesses but also a constant threat to society".

Umar Ahmed:

Atiq's Ahmed son Umar Ahmed is an accused in a five-year-old abduction and assault case. The case goes back to 2018 when Atiq Ahmed’s associates kidnapped Lucknow-based real estate businessman Mohit Jaiswal. He was taken to Deoria jail, where Atiq Ahmed was lodged then. He was also beaten inside the barrack.

Meanwhile, on Friday (April 7), Umar was taken to the CBI court for a hearing in the same case. The court framed charges against Umar Ahmed, Atiq Ahmed, and several others in the kidnapping case.

Asad Ahmed:

Asad Ahmed, who was killed on Thursday in an encounter was wanter in the Umesh Pal murder case. "Asad, son of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, and Ghulam son of Maksudan, both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying a reward of Rupees five lakhs each; killed in an encounter with the UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal at Jhansi," the UP STF said in a statement.

Besides, Ali, Umar, and Asad, Atiq Ahmed is also the father to Ahzaan and Abaan.
