Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has strongly condemned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his recent remarks about the party's red caps. Adityanath claimed that the red caps, which are associated with the Samajwadi Party, symbolise “black deeds.” In response, Yadav defended the colour, stating, “Red represents emotions and is a symbol of Goddess Durga.” He made these comments during a rally in Kannauj.

Yadav mocked the Chief Minister's comments, saying, “They insult our cap, but we maintain good behaviour. At least we have full hair to wear our caps. Those who are bald should also wear one.”

Earlier, Yogi Adityanath had stated that SP has a history filled with wrongdoing. Addressing Adityanath's accusations about the Samajwadi Party's past, Yadav dismissed them as a sign of the Chief Minister's frustration following the BJP's electoral losses in the state. “He cannot handle the shock of defeat, which is why he is making such statements,” Yadav commented.

Yadav also took issue with Adityanath's views on international matters, particularly concerning Bangladesh. He suggested that if Adityanath has concerns about foreign affairs, he should speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the External Affairs Minister, implying that his comments could incite unrest.

On the matter of a caste-based census, Yadav emphasised the importance of an accurate count, stating, “Caste census means caste census,” warning the BJP against manipulating the issue. He stated that this demand represents the needs of backward communities, Dalits and minorities, collectively referred to as the PDA (Pichda, Dalit and Alpashankhyak) family.
