Ayodhya Ram Mandir: As the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple draws near, devotees of Lord Ram, both in India and around the world, are gearing up to celebrate the occasion akin to a 'second' Diwali. Joining the celebrations, Mauritius has also decided to celebrate Diwali on January 22, said the country's high commissioner Haymandoyal Dillum in an interview with news agency ANI.
He is also apprised of the elaborate plan by his fellow countrymen to show their devotion to Lord Ram, saying that 'Diyas' will be lightened up and Ramayan Paths will be held in every Temple across the small East African nation.

"There are a lot of temples in Mauritius and in all the temples one 'diya' (earthen lamp) will be lit and 'Ramayan Path' will be carried out in all the temples during that day. And at the same time, we'll also follow the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony. It has also been decided by various social cultural organizations and the appeal has also been made by the government to light, to celebrate the second Diwali in all the houses," Dillum said.

The High Commissioner also said that Mauritius is keenly following the consecration ceremony program. He said that it is a great event not only for India but for Mauritius as well.
"It's a big event. Lord Ram is coming back again. So I think this is a great event not only for India but also for the people of Mauritius and they are very much keen and willing to follow this 'Pran Pratishtha'," he added.

Notably, Mauritius has almost 66 per cent Indo-Mauritian across the demographics, with a large number of followers of Hinduism inhabiting the island country. In Mauritius, Hindus constitute around 48 per cent of the total population of 12.3 lakhs, making it one of the few countries where Hindus are in the majority.

The High Commissioner further hailed the relationships between the two countries, while appreciating the G20 invitation by India.
