What is Anushthan:

It is a special ritual performed by following certain principles and procedures. It is done to achieve spiritual development and also to commemorate certain religious events. People chant mantras and perform meditation besides other religious exercises during this special spiritual journey.

What has PM Modi been doing during these days:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his special spiritual expedition by offering prayer at Shree Kala Ram Mandir situated along the banks of Godavari in the Panchavati area of Nashik on Friday. As per the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana,’ Lord Rama spent a significant duration of his exile in the Panchavati forest. It is believed to be a part of the Dandakaranya Forest mentioned in the epic.

On Wednesday, PM Modi visited the Guruvayur Temple in Kerala. He also offered prayers at Thriprayar Shree Ramaswamy Temple. These two temples are among the four temples related to Ramayana, which PM Modi talked about while inaugurating the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya on December 30.

PM Modi also visited the historic Veerabhadra Temple in Andhra’s Lepakshi. This place has immense significance in Ramayana and Hindu religion.
