Ayodhya Rape Case:  In a strict action following the rape incident involving a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday suspended Purakalandar Police Station Officer Ratan Sharma and Bhadarsha Post In-Charge Akhilesh Gupta. This comes after CM Yogi met the victim's family at his official residence in Lucknow, assuring them of financial aid and strict action in the case.

According to a Dainik Jagran report, the CM is likely to meet the victim personally on August 7. He has further instructed the DGP to ensure no culprit escapes justice in the heinous case. SSP Rajkaran Nayyar confirmed the suspension of the station officer and post-in-charge.

Earlier during the monsoon session of the legislature on Thursday, CM Yogi had also mentioned the involvement of SP leader Moeed Khan in the rape incident. Bikapur MLA Dr Amit Singh Chauhan, who accompanied the victim's family to the CM's residence, stated that the police showed negligence in the case. He further said that the accused Moeed has illegally poached several lands.

Moeed Khan allegedly lured the 12-year-old girl with a promise of a bakery job, later raping her with an accomplice, making videos, and threatening her into silence. The victim disclosed her ordeal to her family upon discovering her pregnancy, leading to a case being filed on July 30. Investigations into the accused's properties have begun, revealing that his bakery is built on government land.

BJP Aggressive, SP Silent

While the BJP has been aggressive over the sensitive issue, the Samajwadi party maintained silence. The SP has not yet taken any action against Moeed Khan, who is the party's city president. Two days ago, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad claimed ignorance in the case. BJP leaders allege Moeed is close to the MP and was also implicated in a murder during communal riots in 2012. There are further allegations of Moeed sexually exploiting several local girls through threats and inducements.

SP MLA Raises Questions

SP MLA Abhay Singh visited the victim in the hospital, highlighting that she belongs to the backward class, part of the PDA (Political Dalit Alliance). He questioned the absence of PDA leaders and workers in supporting the victim. It is noteworthy that Abhay Singh is rumoured to have close ties with the BJP.

Anita Agrawal, a member of the State Child Rights Protection Commission, also visited the victim to check on her condition.
