Baba Siddique Murder: The Punjab Police’s Anti Gangster Task Force in a joint operation with Maharashtra Police on Saturday arrested an aide of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with the former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique murder case. The accused, identified as Akash Gill, a resident of Punjab’s Fazilka. As per preliminary investigation, the arrested accused was providing logistical assistance to the shooters involved in the murder of Siddique.

The Crime Branch officials said that it is the 24th arrest in the case and a team is in process of bringing him to Mumbai.
The police informed that his role came to light during the interrogation of the other arrested accused due to which a team was sent to Punjab.

The police said that the accused was produced before court in Punjab and is being brought to Mumbai on transit remand. “Singh will be produced before the local court in Mumbai again on Sunday," an officer added.
Baba Siddique’s murder had sent shockwaves across the country. The senior Maharashtra leader was shot multiple times by three men in the presence of his son Zeeshan Siddique as he left his office in Bandra (West), Mumbai.
The incident took place on October 12, 2024, between 21:15 and 21:30 hours. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment but declared dead by medical staff.

Following the murder, a case has been registered at Nirmal Nagar Police Station under Crime Registration No. 589/2024, involving multiple charges, including sections 103(1), 109, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as sections of the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.
