Baba Siddiqui Murder Case

Baba Siddiqui was brutally gunned down on 12 October last year near the Nirmalnagar Police Station in Bandra (East). Investigators have attributed the murder to the Anmol Bishnoi gang, an organised crime syndicate.

Officials revealed that the killing was part of a calculated strategy by the gang to instil fear and assert dominance over rivals and the public. Siddiqui’s assassination underscores the extent to which organised crime syndicates operate to consolidate their influence.

Key Accused and Arrests

The chargesheet names 26 individuals who have been arrested in connection with the case. Additionally, three key suspects remain absconding:

- Mohammad Yasin Akhtar (alias Sikandar)
- Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar (alias Shubbu)
- Anmol Lavinder Singh Bishnoi (alias Bhanu)

Anmol Bishnoi, identified as a key member of the gang, is believed to have masterminded the murder. His leadership in orchestrating the killing highlights the gang’s ruthless approach to achieving its objectives.

Siddique Targeted Due To Alleged Ties With Salman Khan

The police chargesheet stated that the accused selected Siddique as their target based on the belief that he had close ties with actor Salman Khan, who had reportedly drawn the attention of the gang due to allegations of shooting a black buck, which is sacred to the Bishnoi community. Additionally, the chargesheet mentioned that the accused targeted Siddique because they believed he had connections with the Dawood Ibrahim gang.

The Crime Branch found no evidence supporting the claim that Siddique's murder was linked to any dispute over Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects in the city.

The case, initially registered at the Nirmalnagar Police Station, was transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch for a more thorough investigation. Over the months, law enforcement officials have arrested 26 suspects from various states, demonstrating a concerted effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Despite this progress, authorities are actively pursuing the three absconding suspects. Officials remain confident that the substantial evidence gathered will ensure justice for Siddiqui’s family and society at large.

The case is now set for trial in the Special MCOCA Court. Authorities have assured that efforts to apprehend the remaining fugitives will continue unabated.
