New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Ahead of assembly elections in Delhi, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Saturday took a dig at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the AAP chief launched a program to get rid of potholes in the national capital. While replying to a tweet from Kejriwal, the cricket-turned-politician wrote, 'Babuji Dheere Chalna...("Please walk slowly, there are a lot of potholes in the roads. We know the condition of roads in Delhi, but Kejriwal's idea to please us is quite nice," in Hindi.

''The movement to make PWD road potholes free begins today. Around 50-60 MLAs along with engineers will conduct a survey of 25-50 kilometers. All problems will be solved as quickly as possible," Kejriwal wrote in a tweet on Saturday.

The Delhi Chief Minister, however, in another tweet stated that only a few roads come under the Delhi government and millions of vehicles run over them every day. The above measures are taken to ensure commuters do not face any inconvenience during rains.

"The exercise will be carried out each year and a certificate will be issued to tell people that PWD roads are completely fit," he had told at a press conference on Tuesday.

The move comes ahead of elections in Delhi. Kejriwal and his party have been busy highlighting the work done under his regime in the last four years, especially in improving the condition of healthcare and state-run schools.

The Aam Aadmi Party had swept the previous (2015) election in the national capital winning 67 out of 70 assembly seats. The BJP managed three seats while Congress didn't win a single seat. Hoping to return back to power, Kejriwal's party has made promises such as free-water and reduction of electricity bills for eligible homes.

Earlier, in the Lok Sabha election held in April and May, BJP took away all the seven lower house seats in Delhi. They are eyeing to come back to power.
