Rapper-singer Badshah had received death threats from people allegedly associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang regarding the release of his track Tateeree. The recently released song has created a wave of controversy over several objections. Viewers have criticised the visuals and lyrics as being insulting for women and children of Haryana.

The matter came to light when a Facebook post screenshot started to go viral on social media. In the post, people allegedly connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had given a death threat to rapper-singer Badshah. The threat post read, "Singer Badshah, you have tried to ruin the culture of Haryana. We showed you the trailer in your club in 2024; next time we will shoot you directly in the forehead."

Badshah's Apology

Earlier this week, Badshah issued an apology on Instagram regarding the release of the song "Tateeree." The post was an apology that the singer did not intend to hurt anyone's feelings. "My new song has been released, and I am seeing that the lyrics and the visual representation have caused a lot of people, especially from Haryana, a lot of hurt. Firstly, I want to say that I am from Haryana. Those who know me will vouch for the fact that my entire identity rests on it. I am a proud Haryanvi. I never had the intention or the aim to speak of any women or children of Haryana in this manner," he said.


The singer also mentioned that Badshah added, "I am from the hip-hop genre, so the lyrics are often added on to show the competition down for the competitor. This was never meant for the women or the children. I would never do that. I have always tried to uplift Haryana's culture, however I can. But if this has caused hurt to anyone, I would like to express my heartfelt apology. I hope that you will consider me as Haryana's son, your own son, and forgive me."

The note also claimed that the rapper had earlier been threatened through a phone call. The post was reportedly shared on Facebook from an account named Randeep Malik Anil Pandit, who claims to be a part of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. In the note, the alleged associates also claimed responsibility for a recent firing incident in Panipat.

The post also referred to an earlier incident in 2024 in which the gang allegedly tried to intimidate Badshah at a club, claiming it was merely a warning.

Haryana Police Register FIR Against Badshah

A case has also been registered by Haryana police against Badshah. The complaint mentioned that the newly released song Tateeree captures girls wearing school uniforms and dancing in a Haryana Roadways bus, making objectionable gestures.

On Friday, the Haryana State Commission for Women issued a request to arrest rapper Badshah after he failed to appear before them within the deadline. Badshah was directed to appear before the women’s commission by 3 pm on Friday, following a notice issued on March 6, which asked him to appear in Panipat. As per PTI, the chairperson spoke to reporters and said that she has directed that Badshah’s passport be seized so he cannot leave the country and that he be arrested.
