Bank Holiday On June 27: Banks in Odisha and Manipur will remain closed on Friday, June 27, 2025, in observance of Rath Yatra, a major Hindu festival marked with grandeur in both states. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declared this a bank holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Rath Yatra, celebrated prominently in Puri, Odisha, involves a massive chariot procession of Lord Jagannath, attracting lakhs of devotees. In Manipur, the festival is known as Kang, and it is celebrated with equal religious fervour, carrying cultural significance for the local population.
While banks in the rest of India will operate as usual on June 27, customers in Odisha and Manipur are advised to wrap up any necessary in-person banking work ahead of time.
This marks the beginning of an extended period of bank closures across parts of the country:
- June 27 (Friday): Rath Yatra / Kang – Banks closed in Odisha and Manipur
- June 28 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday – Banks closed across India
- June 29 (Sunday): Weekly closure – Banks shut nationwide
- June 30 (Monday): Remna Ni – Banks closed in Mizoram
Despite branch closures, online services including internet banking, UPI, mobile banking apps, and ATM facilities will remain functional throughout.

If you have tasks like cheque clearing, demand draft issuance, or opening a new account, it’s best to complete them before the long weekend begins. Customers are also encouraged to check with their respective local branches for any last-minute changes in the holiday schedule.
Proper planning will ensure uninterrupted access to essential banking services during the festive break.
