Bank Holiday Today:  Diwali 2024, which is being celebrated on two dates simultaneously in India on October 31 and November 1, has led to the closure of Indian banks on one or both parts, depending on the regional customs and traditions. While the bank branches will remain open in several parts on Friday, November 1, some parts will see the bank closures for the Diwali 2024 festivities.

In these states, banks will remain closed today, November 1 as per the RBI guidelines for the festivals of Diwali, Kannada Rajotsava, and Kut.

Bank Holiday On November 2

Several states will see the bank holiday on November 2 for the Bhaidooj, Lakshmi Pooja and Govardhan Pooja festivities. These include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and other states. This date overlaps with the first Saturday of the month which is not considered a bank holiday on normal days.

Bank Holiday On November 3

As November 3 is a Sunday, bank branches of all the banks will remain closed on Sunday across the country. The Diwali festivities which began on October 29, will culminate on November 3 with Bhaidooj and other festivals.

Stock Market Holiday Today

To celebrate Diwali 2024, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed for trading today. This means there will be no trading in the Equity, Equity Derivatives, or SLB segments. Trading in the Currency Derivatives Segment will also be paused for the festival. However, there will be a special one-hour Muhurat Trading session on Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

November Bank Holidays

As per the RBI notification, banks will remain closed for 12 days in the month due to various festivities and weekend holidays. It is advised to visit the bank branch after checking out the bank holiday in prior.
