West Bengal Violence: Amid violence in West Bengal's Murshidabad against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Sunday claimed that the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has failed to maintain law and order, adding that Hindus were forced to flee from their homes. The BJP leaders also stated that the state police have been "acting like TMC cadre".
While sharing photos of the recent acts of violence in the state, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya stated that the police have been working like TMC cadre, further suggesting the police focus on their duty instead of politics.
“They are advised to focus on their duty instead of playing politics. Let’s not forget—senior officials in the Bengal Police are already facing multiple cases, including for revealing the identities of rape victims in both Sandeshkhali and RG Kar incidents. So, do your job. Get back to policing," Malviya stated in a post on X.

The response from BJP IT cell chief came after the TMC leaders accused saffron party leaders of spreading fake information regarding the violence. The TMC leaders accused the BJP leaders of using fake infographics to escalate the tension in the region. While posting a fact-check photo on X, the West Bengal police had stated that most videos and photos linked to the violence were from old incidents.

Apart from this, TMC MP Sushmita Dev stated that the state government is doing everything to stop the violence, adding that CM Mamata Banerjee has already assured that those taking law and order into their own hands will not be spared.
“We have seen that protests have taken place across the country. It’s happened in Tripura and it’s happened in parts of Assam. What’s happened in Murshidabad is extremely unfortunate. But what is even more dangerous is the BJP and its fringe elements spreading fake videos taken from different parts of the country of old incidents, and projecting them as incidents that are taking place in Bengal," Dev stated in a video on X.
