Bengal Rape-Murder Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the financial irregularities of the RG Kar Hospital has brought out big revelations in the case. The probe has found how ex-principal of the hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and his supporters have minted money from diverse sources, which include manipulating the results of students, preparing a suspicious list of house staff, and appointing the candidates of his choice for the position, reports the Times Of India.

According to the TOI report, the CBI, in its submission with the Special CBI court, suspected that Ghosh had “surpassed the process and straight away appointed house staff of his choice” without “adopting a transparent method”.

The investigation by the probe body has revealed that the arrested ex-principal was operating a criminal nexus along with the other co-accused for wrongful gain. It included big rigging for providing hospital contracts to his favoured vendors.

Bengal Rape-Murder Case: CBI Finds Lapses In Initial Probe

Meanwhile, the CBI is now focusing on what prompted severe lapses in carrying out the initial probe before it took over the case on the Calcutta High Court's order.

According to IANS sources, the central agency officials believe that their probe process could have been much smoother had these lapses been avoided during the initial investigation before the CBI took charge.

The first lapse, according to sources, was the lackadaisical videography of the process of post-mortem of the victim's body and the mentioning of the wounds on the body in the report. The forensic experts helping the CBI team in the investigation had pointed out that the language used in the post-mortem report had been quite amateurish, which "conceals" more rather than revealing the relevant details, sources added.

According to the source, the second aspect is that the CBI officials feel that a second post-mortem of the body of the victim could have been extremely handy in the investigation process since more details could have surfaced from that. On this aspect, the investigating officials are trying to figure out from the victim's family members and her close associates the circumstances under which the body was cremated in haste.
