Bengal Weather: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted significant rainfall for West Bengal over the next five days due to the monsoon's progress on Monday. The IMD also stated that rains will continue in south Bengal districts on Wednesday and Thursday.

Howrah, Hooghly, South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, and West Bardhaman are among the districts in south Bengal that are expected to see heavy rain in one or two locations on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the IMD.

It also stated that Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to see a lot of rain in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar.

Darjeeling town had the most rainfall in the state, with 68 mm falling in a 24-hour period till 8:30 am on Monday, according to IMD statistics. According to the report, 52 mm rain fell in the coastal vacation town of Digha during that time.

In another development, the monsoon moved into majority of Himachal Pradesh, bringing mild to moderate rainfall to a few locations. The IMD warned of heavy rain at isolated locations in Himachal Pradesh over the next four days.

Kangra recorded 37 mm of rain, Kasauli 3 mm, Mandi 21.8 mm, Jot 21 mm, Murari Devi 13 mm, Hamirpur 7.5 mm, and Shimla and Sundernagar 3.6 mm. The state had scattered showers.
