The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an alert for rain in Himachal, as the monsoon has made its way into the state. Rainfall is expected across the state between June 25 and June 27, with light to moderate showers in several areas and heavy rain at a few locations.
Heavy rainfall has been forecasted at isolated places in five districts, including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba and Kangra districts. An orange alert has been issued in these areas. Heavy showers are also expected in Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla and Mandi districts.
The monsoon activity is expected to decrease on June 28 and 29.
The Meteorological Department has urged people to remain alert during this period and avoid unnecessary travel. Especially people living in mountainous areas have been advised to stay in safe places during the rains and contact the administration immediately in case of any disaster. The Shimla district administration has deployed nodal officers for relief and rescue operations in case of any disaster during the monsoon.
Besides, warnings for landslides, road closures and waterlogging have also been issued by the administration in mountainous regions.

The concerned departments have been instructed to remain fully alert and be prepared with the necessary resources for relief and rescue, so that prompt action can be ensured in any emergency situation.
