Kolkata Weather: Parts of South Bengal may receive light rain over the next 24 hours, though the overall weather is expected to remain mostly dry and will not affect Kali Puja or Diwali celebrations, the Alipore Meteorological Office said on Sunday.

A yellow alert has been issued for parts of the four districts, though no heavy rainfall has been predicted. The Met department confirmed that north Bengal districts are unlikely to receive any rainfall.

Dry Weather To Prevail After Monday

While light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in coastal areas on Sunday, the rest of South Bengal will witness partly cloudy skies. From Tuesday onwards, the sky is expected to remain clear and sunny with no chances of rain.

Possible Low Pressure Formation In Bay of Bengal

Meteorologists said a cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Islands. Owing to this system, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal around October 21. The system may gradually intensify into a depression within the next 48 hours, potentially bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms in some parts of the state later in the week.
