Bengal Weather Update: Residents of West Bengal have been grappling with hot weather, with the highest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours. However, some parts of Bengal also witnessed sporadic rains. 

The  India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather study reveals that the southwest monsoon is likely to enter the Andaman and Nicobar Islands nine days earlier than the scheduled date, contributing to the weather change across the border states.

The meteorological department has issued a weather advisory for South Bengal and North Bengal, highlighting significant changes in weather conditions.

Rain, Thunderstorms In South Bengal

Heatwave Alert: A heatwave is expected to intensify across all districts of South Bengal, with temperatures potentially rising by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Uncomfortable weather conditions are forecasted until Tuesday.

Districts Affected: Purulia, Bankura, West Medinipur, Jhargram, West Burdwan, and Birbhum districts are expected to experience heatwave conditions, with high warnings issued for Sunday and Monday.

Thunderstorms: There is a high probability of thunderstorms in several districts, including:

Sunday: North 24 Parganas, Purulia, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts.

Monday: North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts.

Tuesday: North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts.

Rainfall: Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) are expected in all districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, on Wednesday and Thursday.

North Bengal Weather Update: Heavy Rain Warning Issued

Heavy Rain Warning: A heavy to very heavy rain warning has been issued for North Bengal on Sunday and Monday, with scattered rain and thundershowers expected in the upper five districts.

Districts Affected: Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Uttar Dinajpur districts may experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers.

Heatwave Conditions: Heatwave conditions are expected in Malda and North and South Dinajpur districts on Sunday, with Malda experiencing heatwave conditions on Monday as well.

Heavy Rainfall: Heavy rain is likely in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts on Sunday, with a very heavy rain warning issued for these districts on Monday. Rainfall of up to 200 mm is expected.

Thunderstorms: Thunderstorms will occur in several districts of North Bengal on Sunday and Monday, accompanied by gusty winds (30-50 kmph).

Kolkata Weather Update

The weather in Kolkata is expected to remain hot with maximum and minimum temperatures ranging between 38 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius in Kolkata. Kolkata weather today is likely to remain normal with clear skies. Last 24-Hour Bengal Weather Recap

According to IMD Kolkata, the Maximum Temperature was observed in the last 24 hours. The Kalaikunda of South Bengal hit the highest temperature at 42.3 degrees Celsius, and Malda of North Bengal recorded 39.9 degrees Celsius. Capital city Kolkata grappled with a scorching temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius.
