Bengal Weather: According to the Meteorological Department, Kolkata and two other districts of South Bengal will witness thunderstorms for the next few hours. The Alipore Meteorological Department stated that thunderstorms, gusty winds will blow in Kolkata at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.
As per the weather body, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning will occur in Kolkata, Howrah and adjacent areas. The weather body has issued an orange alert for these two districts, according to the Anandabazar report.
Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur in West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, West Burdwan and Murshidabad on Wednesday. April 30. The weather body has forecast thunderstorms in almost all the districts of South Bengal throughout the week. There are high chances of thunderstorms on Thursday. Along with this, there is a possibility of gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. In some places, the gusty winds may reach upto 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The weather conditions are expected to continue till Friday, April 2.
In view of rain and thunderstorms, southern districts including Kolkata are likely to witness a drop in temperature by three to five degrees in the next few days. The maximum temperature in Kolkata on Tuesday was 4.4 degrees lower than Monday. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 31.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Wednesday was 25.7 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees below normal, as per the report.

Heavy rain is likely to hit multiple districts in south interior Karnataka till May 6. Bengaluru city, Bengaluru rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Tumkur, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Bellary, Chitradurga, Mandya will witness thunderstorm and lightning till May 6. During this time, isolated light rain is expected to occur in Gadag, Bidar, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Haveri, Belgaum, Dharwad, Bagalkot in the north interior.
On April 30, Bengaluru will witness light rainfall. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 24 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The weather department said that a cyclonic circulation that has already formed in the Bay of Bengal is extending from the Marathwada region to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, at 0.9 km above mean sea level. This trough is influencing weather conditions in Karnataka.
