Bengal Weather News: After a couple of days of a rain break, the majority of Bengal districts are bracing for heavy rainfall, while thunderstorms and lightning are expected in others. As the IMD has placed five south Bengal and all the North Bengal districts on yellow alert for the aforementioned reasons.
A low-pressure system is currently situated over Chhattisgarh, while the monsoon axis lies in the central Bay of Bengal, passing through Kalingapatnam in Odisha. Although the monsoon axis is not directly over Bengal, its proximity is still influencing the region's weather. Specifically, the coastal part of West Bengal is expected to experience rain due to this weather pattern.
There’s a possibility of rain in Bengal on Saturday and Sunday, with heavy rainfall in isolated districts.
South Bengal Weather: Yellow Alert For Thunderstorms, Lightning
The latest weather bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department on Saturday morning has placed several southern districts on yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.
Southern districts put on a yellow alert are North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, and Jhargram. The weather department has predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at many places to be the general weather of the southern area.
South Bengal Weather Forecast: Light To Moderate Rain
The India Meteorological Department has anticipated light to moderate rain with thunderstorms for the region till September 6, with a yellow alert lasting only till tomorrow. South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore will remain under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning on Sunday.
North Bengal Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Across Region
According to the weather forecast shared by the Meteorological Department, all the districts in North Bengal are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and a high possibility of heavy rainfall.
Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar are likely to experience more frequent heavy rains, while scattered heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is forecasted for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Cooch Behar.
Additionally, gusty winds are predicted for Malda, North Dinajpur, and South Dinajpur. However, rains are expected to decrease slightly in these districts from Saturday afternoon
North Bengal Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain To Continue In Jalpaiguri
The weather forecast bulletin by the weather department reveals that the state braces for light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning across the week till September 6, while Jalpaiguri will remain under yellow alert for heavy rain between 7 and 11 cm at many places.
