Bengal Woman Molested: Amid the ongoing row over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a health worker while she was sleeping with her ailing child at a government-run hospital in Kolkata. According to the India Today report, the incident took place at the children’s ward of Kolkata’s Institute of Child Health (ICH), where her child was admitted and getting treatment.

Accused Tanay Pal, serving as ward boy in the facility, entered the ward and allegedly inappropriately touched and molested the child’s mother. According to the complaint, he also recorded the incident on his mobile. 

The police seized his phone and sent it for forensic examination. He was later sent to police custody by a local court.

Meanwhile, BJP IT cell head and West Bengal in-charge Amit Malviya targeted Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that the West Bengal run government hospitals are unsafe for women.

“West Bengal run Govt hospitals remain unsafe for women. After the brutal rape and murder of a young woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital, a 26-year-old woman is now molested at the Kolkata Institute of Child Health. The victim was molested by a health worker, when she was sleeping next to her ailing child, admitted in the children’s ward. The accused touched the woman inappropriately, disrobed and filmed her on his mobile. All this, while Mamata Banerjee is unwilling to accept Junior Doctors’ demand for increased security, in West Bengal run Govt hospitals,” he said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, the rallies and demonstrations demanding justice for the raped-murdered RG Kar hospital doctor swept through the city on Sunday. Retired Army officers, who were alumni of Purulia Sainik School, marched from Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand to Golpark in south Kolkata with placards in their hands amid rains.

The post-graduate trainee doctor was raped-murdered while on duty last month, triggering a nationwide outrage.
