Bengaluru News: The remains of Amit Kumar, an 18-year-old caretaker at a local plant nursery, were discovered in the backyard of his home on March 5. Kumar had been reported missing since December 2024.
Amit, who got married in February 2024, worked at a nursery owned by his relative, Kamlesh Kumar. He lived at the nursery with two other relatives who worked as food delivery boys.

His father, Tek Chand, a 54-year-old resident of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh, reported Amit missing after he mysteriously vanished. In his complaint, he mentioned that Amit’s mobile phone had been switched off, raising concerns about his safety. Despite the family's efforts to find him, including waiting for several days, their search was unsuccessful. In December, they filed a missing person report with the Bellandur police.
According to The Hindu report, in March, Tek Chand travelled to Bengaluru. With the assistance of Kamlesh and other relatives, he began searching the backyard of the nursery where Amit lived. During the search, they found a skeleton dressed in a pullover and trousers. Tek Chand identified the remains as those of his son based on the clothing.
Following this discovery, he lodged a complaint with the police, suggesting that Amit was murdered and his body buried to cover up the crime. The Bellandur police, after examining the scene with a forensic team, have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence.
Family members have expressed frustration, claiming that the police did not conduct a thorough search for Amit after the missing complaint was filed. Authorities are investigating possible involvement from family members and plan to question them once the last rites are completed.
