Amid several cases of harassment by auto drivers in Bengaluru, another video has gone viral on the social media platform 'X' that shows a 20-year-old college student being allegedly harassed by an auto driver over a payment issue. The student is an intern in Bengaluru, and he got harassed and threatened by an auto driver who demanded an additional Rs 200 without reason. The driver allegedly also abused the intern and used racial slurs during the incident.
The student has described the incident as deeply traumatic and unsettling, as he also claimed that the driver told him that he knew his office address and warned him that he would be attacked outside his office on his return. The student shared few recordings of the incident and the screenshot of the ride bill on the social media platform X, stating that the incident was very unfortunate.
Got harassed and threatened by a Bengaluru auto driver. He has told me that he will beat me up outside my office whenever I go. And said racial slurs. He was asking for 200rs extra out of nowhere. The user stated that he had to pay an extra amount to get out of the situation. He added that the driver even called his drunk friends his drunk friends who threatened the student and his friend. "I had to pay him ₹500 ( ₹400 in cash and Rs100 via UPI) instead of ₹380 as shown on the app to ensure he left me and my friend alone. He had called two of his drunk friends, who were about to attack us, and was continuously hurling slurs at us," the user posted on X.

Namma Yatri, the auto operator, in a reply to a student post, stated that they regretted the experience the user faced and assured that incidents like this will never happen again. “Hi there. We deeply regret the experience you had. Situations like this are unacceptable. Your safety and comfort are our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring incidents like this don’t happen again. Please DM us if you need any assistance,” Namma Yatri posted on X.
