Bengaluru News: A 31-year-old private bank employee from Bengaluru allegedly died by suicide at his home in Hosakerehalli on Sunday morning. Police identified the deceased as Gagan Rao, who had married Meghana, a final-year BCA student from Chamarajanagar, about 11 months ago.
According to police, the couple frequently quarrelled after Meghana allegedly accused Rao of infidelity. On Sunday, an argument broke out around 7:45 AM, following which Rao reportedly went inside his room and did not return for several minutes. When he failed to respond, Meghana sought help from neighbours to break open the door. Rao was found hanging from a ceiling fan using a sari.

According to a New Indian Express report, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Victoria Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said no suicide note was found at the spot and the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.
Rao’s family has filed a complaint accusing Meghana of abetment to suicide, alleging that her behaviour and repeated accusations led him to take the extreme step. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and begun further inquiry.
Investigators revealed that Meghana had earlier filed a complaint against Rao at the Chamarajanagar Women’s Police Station, accusing him of maintaining relationships with other women. The couple had been counselled by police and advised to reconcile. However, after returning to her husband’s residence recently, Meghana allegedly continued to confront him about his behaviour.
Police said preliminary evidence indicates ongoing marital discord between the two, and statements from both families are being recorded as part of the investigation.
