Bengaluru News: Traffic movement near Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was briefly disrupted on Saturday after a BMTC electric bus driver suffered a sudden medical emergency while on duty. The driver reportedly had a seizure while driving, which caused him to lose control of the bus and collide with several vehicles on the busy stretch.

Eyewitnesses said the bus swerved sharply, hitting a few two-wheelers and cars before coming to a halt. However, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Bystanders and emergency responders acted quickly, ensuring that everyone at the scene remained safe.

The bus driver was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that he is in stable condition and recovering. According to BMTC officials, the accident occurred purely due to an unexpected medical episode and not because of negligence or a technical fault in the vehicle.

BMTC later issued a statement expressing regret over the incident and assured that all individuals involved were safe. The corporation also promised support to vehicle owners whose vehicles were damaged in the collision.

Traffic police promptly arrived at the location and removed the damaged vehicles to clear the road. Their swift action prevented heavy congestion in the Central Business District, which is one of the most crowded parts of the city. Normal traffic was restored shortly after the incident.

Authorities said the case highlights the need for regular health checks for public transport drivers, especially those working long hours in high-traffic areas. They also stated that, BMTC will review its medical screening protocols to ensure the safety of both drivers and passengers.
