Bengaluru Rains:  At least one worker died and around five were trapped under the debris of an under-construction building in Bengaluru's Hennur on Tuesday after it collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the city. The Fire and Emergency Services have been informed and rescue teams were dispatched to the spot, an official said as quoted by the Deccan Herald.

The building is in the Babusabpalya area of Hennur, the report further stated.

“Three fire tenders have been dispatched,” a senior officer said. “One person is rescued. Operations are continuing,” an official was quoted as saying in the report.

While unverified reports stated that three bodies have been recovered so far, no official confirmation has been provided by authorities. The multi-story structure was being erected at the Anjanadri Layout in Horamavu Agara near Hennur.

17 people are feared trapped inside the building and rescue operation is being carried out in a coordinated effort with help from other agencies," a senior police officer said as quoted by PTI.

Bengaluru is grappling with severe waterlogging amid torrential rainfall which has lashed the city for four days. Heavy rainfall has thrown the life in the city out of gear. While children couldn't reach school due to waterlogged roads, techies faced difficulties in reaching offices. Areas such as Yelahanka and Doddabommasandra Lake remained waterlogged throughout Tuesday.
