Bengaluru News: In what appears to be a heartwarming story of honesty, humanity, and kindness, a cab driver spent hours driving around and knocking on doors across the city to track down the passenger who left his bag behind in the cab at midnight. The heart-warming story came to light after the owner of the bag and the Vancouver-based founder, Glen Ivan, shared a photo with the driver, Uttam.
Sharing the moving story, Ivan revealed that after he accidentally left his bag containing a passport and a PR card in the cab, Uttam turned detective. He spent over an hour knocking on doors and speaking with locals to find the founder, and eventually bumped into Ivan’s father on the street.
“Meet Uttam, a true Bengaluru hero. At 2:30 AM, after the long trek back from KIA [Kempegowda International Airport], I finally got home and crashed. In my sleep-deprived state, I left my sling bag in Uttam’s cab—with my passport, PR card, wallet etc. I didn’t even realize it was missing until 10:30 AM when my dad asked if I’d lost my documents,” the Vancouver-based founder, Glen Ivan, wrote.
Pointing to the address difference in his passport and Uber drop-off details, Ivan said that Uttam spent over an hour knocking on the neighbourhood doors to find the owner, as the information on his passport and his drop-off details were different and ‘kinda vague’ on Uber.
“He spent over an hour knocking on doors and checking with neighbours to find me. By a stroke of luck, he bumped into my dad on the street,” the founder added.
“Uttam saved me from a massive bureaucratic nightmare and months of stress. I am so humbled by his honesty and the extra mile he went (literally and figuratively). A man of real integrity.” He concluded the post with a photo of Uttam and him.
The World Needs More Uttams
Social media reacted warmly to the incident, with a user saying, “The world needs more Uttams.” Another added, “Uttam - honest & humble. God bless you abundantly.”
A third commented, “What an amazing human. Glad you got all your stuff back that would have s**ked losing your passport and PR card.”
