Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway Link Road: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is reportedly planning to connect the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway to the Bengaluru-Kolar Highway. The officials stated that the authority is considering to connect them with an 18-km road, adding that the development will provide a major convenience to the residents of several regions. The construction of the link road will provide convenience to the commuters traveling to the border areas of Andhra Pradesh.
Apart from this, the development will also boost the financial activities in this region, creating more employment opportunities. Earlier last month, NHAI opened a 68-km part of the expressway which lies in Karnataka. The stretch was opened as the construction of the expressway in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is taking longer than expected. The officials stated that the motorists are currently using the expressway to travel from Hoskote to KGF (Bethamangala).

The officials further stated that construction of the road will also help in collecting toll for using the expressway. One of the officials stated that the authority is considering to upgrade the district and village roads by linking it with NH 75.
"Though the expressway is open for motorists, there is no end-to-end connection. At present, motorists, after exiting at Bethamangala, are using village roads to reach their destinations. What we are contemplating is upgrading district roads and village roads by linking the expressway with NH 75 (Bengaluru-Kolar Road) from Sundarapalya and to the Mulbagal side," one of the officials were quoted as saying by the Times of India.
"If this is done, it would cater to a greater number of users, and we will have grounds to collect fees as we provide linkage to reach major destinations. However, decisions on the collection of toll fees rest with headquarters. At present, 1,800 to 2,000 vehicles are moving per day on the newly opened expressway, and the number is gradually increasing," he added.
