Bengaluru News: Bengaluru East railway station will be closed to passenger services starting March 13. This closure is necessary for the dismantling of existing platforms and the installation of new tracks for the third and fourth lines.

As a result, a total of 41 trains will no longer stop at this station until further notice. This includes 15 express trains and 26 passenger or MEMU services.

The passenger and MEMU trains that will bypass the station include services from KSR Bengaluru to various destinations such as Dharmavaram, Marikuppam and Kolar.

Passengers are advised to check their travel plans accordingly and seek alternative arrangements during this period of disruption.

Karnataka Weather

In separate news, Karnataka is expected to experience extreme heat and excess rainfall during the March-May period, as per the IMD’s summer forecast. Southern regions, including Bengaluru, will receive above-normal pre-monsoon showers, while northern districts, especially Kalyana-Karnataka, are set to face severe heatwaves for 2-4 days. Coastal and Malnad regions will experience 50-60 per cent excess rainfall, while interior districts, including Bengaluru, will see 30-40 per cent above-normal pre-monsoon showers. Despite this, northeastern Karnataka may witness temperatures between 43 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius throughout March, with the heat intensity gradually spreading across North Karnataka in April and May.
