A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Bengaluru bus conductor after being asked to move from the door for safety reasons, police said on Wednesday. The incident, which took place on Tuesday evening in Whitefield, was caught on video and went viral on social media.
The accused, Harsha Sinha, a native of Jharkhand, had recently lost his job at a business process outsourcing firm and had been unemployed for about three weeks. Police believe his frustration over unemployment may have contributed to his violent behaviour.

The altercation occurred near the ITPL bus stop when Yogesh, the 45-year-old conductor of a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus, asked Sinha to step away from the footboard, as he was blocking passengers from boarding and deboarding. This led to a verbal argument and Sinha allegedly pulled out a knife from his bag, stabbing the conductor multiple times.

After the attack, Sinha reportedly threatened other passengers and attempted to force them out of the bus. The driver, Siddalingaswamy, locked the bus door and escaped, leaving the accused inside. The suspect then grabbed a hammer and began vandalizing the vehicle, smashing its windows.
In the viral video, panicked passengers can be seen fleeing the bus. The injured bus conductor was rushed to the hospital with two to three stab wounds but is expected to recover.
