Karnataka Assembly Suicide Attempt: Karnataka Assembly, also known as 'Vidhana Soudha' witnessed a dramatic incident on Saturday, in which a man allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison in front of the House in Bengaluru.
According to the police, the man is identified as Nagendrappa, an accused in a "moral policing" case registered at the Soladevanhalli police station. His condition is stated to be stable, officials said. Some users on X claimed that he is a doctor, who has been allegedly harassed by the police.
BJP Slams Congress Govt
The Bharatiya Janata Police (BJP) slammed the Karnataka government led by Congress, claiming that Nagendrappa was being harassed by the police for exposing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The police case allegedly led to the suicide attempt, the saffrom party asserted.
In a post on X, the Karnataka BJP questioned the Congress government for not showing the courage to track down and arrest illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

"Whom are you protecting, whom are you teaching? @siddaramaiah, @DrParameshwara? Many illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were detected and arrested, now Dr Nagendra said that you (police) tortured him so much that he resorted to committing suicide, why this punishment for Hindus? Are you protecting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to create vote bank for GBA elections #HindusAreNotSafeInKarnataka #CongressSupportBanglaImmigrants," Karnataka BJP wrote in Kannada on X.
"Honourable Home Minister (G Parameshwara), as your department has failed to perform its duty, citizens themselves are identifying illegal immigrants in the interest of national security. Instead of deporting illegal immigrants, what justice is it to subject those who identify them to police torture?" the post said.
An X user, Mohan Gowda (@Mohan_HJS) reacted to the incident, saying, "Dr. Nagendrappa (MBBS) faced police harassment, torture after he exposing illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and fake govt documents. Protesting the alleged intimidation of his family, he attempted suicide in front of Vidhana Soudha. Shifted to Bowring Hospital; condition critical."
